The right scared us into war, and the left is scaring us into spending. Do it or else! Fear-mongering is alive & well in Washington. about 2 hours ago from web

One of the most rewarding things has been showing people that there’s a different way, a better way. Software doesn’t have to be a pain in the ass. Software doesn’t have to get in the way. Software isn’t about feature lists and sensational promises. Software is a concise set of tools that serve as an extension of your own mind. Great software lets you get things done and then it gets out of your way.
It hasn’t all been smooth sailing, but it’s been rewarding sailing. I won’t speak for everyone else at 37signals, but there’s nothing I’d rather be doing. I look forward to the next five years.
Thanks again for everything!
I love this company. Happy Birthday Basecamp! And congrats to the 37signals team. :)

Sweating the details
If we were going to undertake the task of recreating basic HTML form controls, we knew there were a lot of details that need to be accounted for and thought through. Like all the possible states of a button: resting, hover, focus, active, toggled-on, and disabled. There are also the accessibility ramifications of creating non-standard controls. I’m sure we haven’t factored in or solved every access issue yet. But engineers are working on that.
I *love* the new buttons in Gmail. They make the interface feel so much more functional & put together. Keep up the outstanding work. I can wait till these buttons are deployed globally on all Google properties.

Scenius is like genius, only embedded in a scene rather than in genes. Brian Eno suggested the word to convey the extreme creativity that groups, places or scenes can occasionally generate. His actual definition is: Scenius stands for the intelligence and the intuition of a whole cultural scene. It is the communal form of the concept of the genius.
